Features

Everything a field reading needs.

Many manufacturers, one interface

Manufacturer-independent reception in a single interface, per the OMS standard.

AES-128 decoding

Automatic processing of encrypted packets.

EELTS System

Building, Floor, Flat, Owner, Serial — a structured building view with per-flat status. One glance and you know where to go.

Multiple antenna types

Written for four common USB antennas. Quite possibly the one you already use.

FOSZTER heat-map

Consumption Color-Map — a statistical color-map of per-flat consumption. Suspicious values can point to faults.

PDF report wizard

Per-flat PDF reports. One click, finished file.

Routine

A saved session: building, meters and keys in one place. Next time it is one click — load, check, start.

Highlighted features

Five standout features that set you apart.

EELTS System

Take in the whole building at a glance.

A 100–150-flat estate is just long rows in an Excel sheet. By the time you reach row 47, you have forgotten what you saw on row 6.

The EELTS System solves this. It shows the whole building on a structured layout, floor by floor. Each flat is a card, and the border color signals its reading status.

A single glance is enough. No need to scan rows — the gaps stand out on their own.

Multiple buildings, one site

Not designed for just one building.

When several buildings must be read at one site. One Excel import… many buildings.

The overview bar shows the progress of every building. One glance and you know where the reading stands and where to head next.

FOSZTER

Know which flat stands out — before a complaint arrives.

On their own, the readings are just numbers. Whether 12 m³ of cold water in flat 5/3 is a lot or a little only becomes clear when you compare it with the other flats.

FOSZTER does exactly this. It colors each flat relative to the consumption pattern of the whole building: pale colors show the normal range, strong colors the outliers. A thick red border marks the flats that truly stand out.

Without scanning a single table you can see something is off in flat 5/3. A burst pipe? A tenant change? A faulty meter? You know where the technician should go — before the owner even calls.

PDF Report

A finished report for every flat — at a click.

The quarterly statement used to be half a day's work: going through the spreadsheet, gathering the meter values, formatting a Word template. And then it turns out flat 3 on the 5th floor slipped by one row.

The PDF report wizard cuts this down to minutes. You set your own details in the header once — name, phone, email — and choose what goes into the report:

  • Heating energy, cold- and hot-water consumption
  • Previous period, monthly closing values
  • Alerts (e.g. battery-change, meter fault)

A separate PDF per flat, or one combined file — whichever suits you.

The data comes straight from the reading. No retyping, no typos. The wizard remembers your settings — next time it is a single click.

Routine

Stop redoing it every month.

If you read the same buildings every month, the setup is the same every time: Excel import, pasting AES keys, checking the meter list. Half an hour before you have read a single meter.

Routine packs all of this into one saved session. The building data, the meter set, the keys — all in one place.

Next time: one click. You load it, check the overview and start. The program guides you through the process, step by step — down to the last meter.

Independent regression test

Measured against an industry reference.

The open-source wmbusmeters project's reference set — 92 telegrams, 54 unique meter types, 14+ meter categories, across all three wM-Bus modulation modes (T1, C1, S1).

The cross-section covers devices from 20+ manufacturers: water, heat, heat-cost allocators, electricity, gas and room sensors — an industry-representative sample of what is on the market.

The parser is compared against a known-good output for every telegram. The test is deterministic and reproducible at any time — it re-runs on every new release.

About the project

Seven months. One person. One piece of software.

MeterHawk began as a prototype in April 2026 and, through seven months of continuous work by a single developer — Zoltán Ujvári — grew into market-ready software. Support for seven manufacturers, three antennas, five languages, one installer.

The solutions on the market are mostly manufacturer-locked, foreign-language and expensive. MeterHawk fills that gap: shaped by real fieldwork.

Continuous development

One version shipped. The next is always on its way.

MeterHawk is living software. New meter types, new manufacturer support, refined algorithms — continuously. Development priorities come from fieldwork, not a marketing plan.

User feedback reaches the developer directly. No layered decision-making, no support-desk filter.

Manifesto

Why did I start this?

It started with a simple question: I wanted software to comfortably read wM-Bus meters from different manufacturers, in my own language. I could not find one. There were foreign tools — manufacturer-locked, in a foreign language, and usually scaled for large enterprises.

Either I wait for someone to build one — or I build it myself.

In early April I wrote the first prototype on my own laptop. Seven months later it already supported seven manufacturers, three antennas, five languages, and features refined from real fieldwork: the EELTS System, the FOSZTER heat-map, the PDF report wizard. With a focused interface, tested in real buildings.

MeterHawk is not a corporate brand. It is the independent product of a single developer who works in the metering industry every day and answered exactly the challenges he sees himself.

— Zoltán Ujvári
Honestly

MeterHawk is not for everyone.

If you manage hundreds of buildings with a large organisation, an enterprise-grade system will give you more automation and integration than a desktop tool can.

If you read meters from a single manufacturer only, that manufacturer's own software may be enough — you need not pay for independence.

If you have never opened an Excel sheet and are wary of file handling, the learning curve may be slower at first.

But if you manage a mixed fleet of meters, want a clear, focused interface and are looking for a tool shaped by daily fieldwork — there is no better choice.
Comparison

Where does it fit in the market?

We name no names — but anyone who has shopped for meter-reading software knows the categories.

The "vendor software" means meter manufacturers' own single-brand tools; the "enterprise system" means large platforms scaled for many buildings.
What you won't get

What MeterHawk doesn't do

It won't send a weekly newsletter about "10 tips for more efficient meter reading."
It won't ask for a 14-day trial with a credit card that you then forget to cancel.
It won't put "AI" in its name to look trendy.
It won't have an "account manager" call to discuss your needs.
One piece of software. It reads the meters. Done.
